Kinesis Myofascial Integration (KMI) is a form of body work or manual therapy, developed by Thomas Myers. The design of KMI is to unwind the strain patterns residing in your body thereby restoring it to its natural balance, alignment, length and ease.
KMI consists of a multi-session protocol (usually 12 sessions) of deep, slow fascial and myofascial manipulation, coupled with movement re-education. This new alignment simply becomes part of who you are, not something you have to work at or repeatedly see a practitioner to maintain. KMI is a wonderful ‘tonic’ for your posture and movement. You can certainly ‘try out’ a session to see if it suits you, but the best, most permanent and progressive results are obtained by undertaking the whole 12 series. KMI sessions are usually done in underwear or bikini/swimwear without draping or towels etc. Pictures are taken before each session so that you may see any structural changes and to allow you to better understand your postural habits. Most of the work is completed on a treatment table, however some floor, seated or standing work may be called for.
