Time and again we hear from people who have been practicing Pilates or Yin Yoga for years but after their first experience with us, tell us that it was unlike any class they have ever experienced. The magic is in the details! Which we know inside and out, due to being highly trained, highly skilled and from having decades of experience each. This is why our clients feel our classes are unique and even awe inducing in how their bodies feel afterwards.
Fundamentals of Fascia Movement
We've created this course for two reasons. Firstly, to give our existing members a chance to deepen their knowledge and performance of, the important fundamental movements that underpin our technique. It's great to repeat every couple of years.
Secondly, in response to people looking to recommend Sense of Space to their friends and family but not knowing where they could start, as they may not have practiced Fascia Movement before. The course itself has it’s roots in Contemporary Pilates (still based on fascia focused, integral anatomy) but we feel these movements are the very best framework upon which to embody fascia movement.
We use a set of two very specialised, soft spiky massage balls. These are $30 per set. We can ship Australia wide but please let us know if you require international shipping. We can also bring a pair to class for you, if you are in Perth and decide to order them and collect face to face. Email gemma@senseofspace.com.au if you would like a pair shipped directly to your door.
The Course: The course is divided into two parts, A and B. Each consists of 5 short 'deep dive' sessions around 15 minutes in length, plus one 30 minute class. In every deep dive, one fundamental topic is dissected in detail, allowing you to add a layer of depth to your understanding both of your own body as well as the movement in focus. Each 30 minute class has been functionally sequenced for maximum benefit and incorporates all of the movements you have been mastering in each deep dive into one consolidating class. Continuing: Should you wish to continue your movement journey with us after the end of the course, you can move to our online monthly membership or face to face classes. In fact many people use the fundamentals course as a home daily practice whilst still attending our weekly, in person classes, in Subiaco. Your payment details are encrypted and no further charges can be made to your card unless you make them yourself.

Meet Lauren
Lauren has always been an active person, dancing from a young age and eventually finding Contemporary Pilates. This is what first introduced her to Fascia Movement. She began teaching in Margaret River, Western Australia. After several years teaching, she took the opportunity to study internationally, travelling to Europe to begin her Fascia Movement Diploma (formerly known as Slings Myofascial Training). After moving to Fremantle in 2017, she continued to teach Fascia Movement and welcomed a son in 2019. Practicing Fascia Movement, allowed her to continue teaching and remain mobile and strong throughout her pregnancy. Always learning, she constantly seeks more training, recently gaining a certificate in Fascia Body Reading & Movement Strategies.

It has been 16 years since Karin, Martina and myself, first opened the doors of our Subiaco studio on Coghlan Road, in the autumn of 2010. I want to acknowledge how grateful I am for the life enhancing, awe inspiring movement practice that FAMO is, and for each and everyone one of you, who have been part of our Sense of Space community in one way or another, whether for 16 weeks or 16 years. It's a beautiful thing to look back upon and realise how grateful you are for the connections you have made. Thank you for being part of that.
